I was born June 6 1939 in Gould, Arkansas, Lincoln County
to parents Ennis Thomas and Helen Norman Thomas.
Early education was at Oakwood Bayou Elementary School and Fields Elementary
School in Gould Arkansas. The family relocated to Silver Lake Township where I attended Shady Grove
Elementary/Junior High School. Following completion of the 8th grade May 1954, I graduated A.L. Reed Senior High
School in Dumas, Arkansas May 1958.
Following high school, I started my college education at the University of Maryland, College Park that later was completed
at the Victor Valley Community College, Victorville. The degree currently held is an Associated of Science Business, June
1991.
Military Career
Following two years of working and traveling, July 25,
1960 I enlisted in the United States Air Force in Little Rock, Arkansas. Basic Military Training was at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. Then
to Eglin AFB Florida; then Chanute AFB, Illinois, Dover AFB Delaware, Kadena AB Okinawa(Japan) Davis Monthan AFB Arizona;
Lowery AFB Colorado, Kwang-Ju AB (Republic)Korea, Holloman, AFB New Mexico, Takli AB Thailand, Korat AB Thailand, Eglin AFB
Florida, Incirlick (CDI) Adana, Turkey. Lastly, I arrived at George
AFB, California September 8, 1979 and retired after completing
26 years of service August 1, 1986 as an E-7 Master Sergeant. During the 26 years with the United States Air Force my specialties
included, Heavy Equipment Operator, Jet Air Craft Engine Mechanic, Supervisor and Ammunitions Specialist, and Supervisor.
Family Life
Married June 1965 in Washington, DC, to Silver Creighton
after a number of Overseas and stateside assignments, I arrived at George
AFB, Victorville, California September 8, 1979 and remained there
until retirement August 1, 1986. Following retirement from USAF, I was employed at Edwards AFB California in Civil Service
Department of Defense as an Aircraft Engine Technician for ten years. Then moving to General Electric Aircraft Cooperation
(GE) at Edwards AFB
until April 2004, and retired after seven with GE.
I am the Father of three Daughters, Sonya,
Yjuanya, Rolanda, and one Son Jabari. I have eight grand Children, four Girls
and four Boys.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
The NAACP participation and involvement began June 1974
at Eglin AFB,
Florida, which through dedication I have continued to be a strong supporter and leader. Once establishing my family and following
retirement, the NAACP has been a part of my civic and community involvement. In 1991 and 1992, I held the office of President
for Victor Valley NAACP Branch 1082, and Co-Director of Youth Chapter 1988-89. Currently, I am Second Vice President for the
Victor Valley NAACP Branch 1082.
